New visualizations of M-Lab data

The recent addition of Google's data visualization tool to the M-Lab platform has become a huge success at allowing people to visualize their broadband connectivity and how it compares across geographical boundaries. However, work hasn't stopped there and this week new visualization metrics have been added to the tool for users to experiment with:

  • Latency. Users can now see not only their throughput, but also how network latency affects their Internet experience. You can get more information about that metric here.
  • Network congestion. Another new set of metrics are the ratios of network congestion both at the server and client ends of the test. This metric shows to what degree other traffic may be congesting your Internet connection. You can get more information about that metric here.
